Master Builder’s Association - Building Excellence Award

RBVetCo has been honored with the coveted MBA Building Excellence Award for our work on the Department of Veterans Affairs Modernization of ICU Beds project. This project was unique because it consisted of the construction of a new fifth-floor addition to the VA's existing three-story University Drive medical facility that remained fully operational throughout the construction project.

About the Award

Since 1886 the Master Builders' Association of Western Pennsylvania has been renowned for building quality construction projects. Over the years, the Greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area has been built, brick by brick, building after building, by the contractor members of the MBA.

In 1994, a Tradition of Excellence was born when the MBA launched the Building Excellence Awards program to recognize the best in construction. Over the past two decades, the MBA Building Excellence Awards program has grown to become the highest and most sought-after commercial construction award in our region. Winning projects are presented a Crystal award to symbolize the ever-lasting relationship of the entire construction team. The Building Excellence Award Crystal is the greatest achievement one can obtain in our region's commercial construction industry.

The Project in the Spotlight

The Modernization of ICU Beds for the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System called for the very best understanding, vision, and construction management available.

The addition of a new fifth-floor ICU unit integrated contiguously into and above an active three-story VA Medical Center presented numerous challenges. Our collaborative relationships enabled our team to proactively remain on schedule to complete this highly-functional facility extension, with an impressive ‘no-injuries’ safety record.
